Terms of Service
Last updated: June 2026
These terms govern your use of ScanMate's labels, website, and online service. By creating an account, registering a label, or requesting samples, you agree to them.
1. The service
ScanMate provides QR-based labels and an online service that lets a finder contact the owner of a labelled item through a secure form, while keeping the owner's personal details private.
2. Your account
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for activity under your account.
- Keep your login details secure and let us know promptly of any unauthorised use.
- You must be old enough to enter a binding agreement, or have a parent or guardian do so on your behalf.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use ScanMate to:
- Harass, deceive, or harm another person, including misusing the finder contact form.
- Upload unlawful, infringing, or harmful content.
- Attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the service.
- Label items you do not own or are not authorised to manage.
4. Messages from finders
Messages submitted by finders are passed to the relevant owner. We do not guarantee that a lost item will be recovered, that a finder will make contact, or that any message is accurate. Use good judgement before arranging to meet anyone to recover an item.
5. Orders, samples & quotes
Requesting samples or a quote does not create a binding order. Any supply of physical labels is subject to a separate confirmation, and to availability. We aim to describe products accurately, but minor variations in colour, finish, and durability can occur.
6. Intellectual property
ScanMate and its branding, software, and content belong to us or our licensors. You keep ownership of the content you add about your items, and grant us the limited rights needed to operate the service for you.
7. Availability
We work to keep the service running reliably but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may update, suspend, or withdraw features from time to time.
8. Disclaimers & liability
The service is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date above. Continued use of the service means you accept the updated terms.
